Supply Chain Challenges Update

We have all felt the impact of the global supply chain challenges this past year. From shortages to inflated costs, the printing industry, and other sectors, have faced numerous challenges with sourcing paper and materials. We wanted to take this time to explain the situation to our partners and customers so that you can be better informed and prepared.

Why is there a lack of supply?

The supply of paper has actually been steadily declining since 2012. Paper companies and mills were struggling to make a profit. When the pandemic hit in 2020, many of these companies closed down altogether. Now demand has recovered to pre-pandemic levels but supply is unable to keep up. This, combined with ever increasing transportation and labor cost are driving up prices in ways never seen before.

Why is there so much inflation?

With less supply and more demand, the cost of paper has skyrocketed, as have shortages of even basic paper types. It is expected this will continue well into 2023.

What are we doing about it?

  • We have been contacting many suppliers to try and source supplies for printing your orders. However, there is extremely tight supply and allocation limits are being imposed on everyone within the industry.
  • We have been absorbing some of the inflation costs, but to remain a viable long term partner, we will have to increase our prices.
  • Certain products or materials will have adjusted turnaround times or may have significant delays based upon availability.
  • We may have to substitute stocks with similar ones that are available in order to fulfill your order in a timely manner.

What can I expect going forward?

Until supply can catch up with demand, the print industry will continue to face supply chain shortages and inflation. As a result, turnaround and prices may continue to be affected during this time. We want to be transparent about potential substitute stocks, turnaround times, and prices, so that you know what to expect. When ordering from us at this time, please keep in mind that we may substitute stocks with similar ones that are available. Our objective is to give our partners and customers the product they need at satisfactory turnarounds.
As always, we will keep doing our best to service our customers needs. Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we work through these industry realities.
